Ep. 2 • Finding The Balance

A little bit ago, I had a conversation with Logan Mansfield ‘24, who has participated in so many sports, during the conversation, he was forgetting about sports he had done in his past. After quitting baseball, he tried out for the diving team at school and realized he had potential in the sport due to his short gymnastics background as well as his history doing judo. The year he tried out for diving, he also tried out for the pole-vault team for track & field.

After about five years doing diving and track, he’s the current state champion for diving and has gone to the state championships for track twice. Like many other high school student-athletes, he had to learn the balance of school and sports. He’s learned how much exercise helps his brain, especially before sports, however, there’s also a big challenge with having the pressure of having to be the best at your sport as well as do well in school. “I definitely noticed that the lack of time that I have after school does affect my test scores sometimes,” Mansfield said.

Logan also mentioned how he realized how much exercise helps his mental state before school. “Sleep early, your brain will process your studying, and you’ll notice it and see the results,” was Logan’s advice. During his freshman year, he also started exercising a little before his AP tests and realized he felt more relaxed afterward. Hear more here!
